Lajwanti Ravinder comes from a traditional family of artisans who migrated from Multan to Punjab. Besides hand embroidery Lajwanti also did weaving at home and produced her own cotton cloth, though now she buys variety of fabric from the market. The only daughter of her parents Lajwanti did her schooling till class fifth. Passionate about Phulkari she learned at young age from her grandmother and mother. As the name suggests Phulkari involves around flowery and geometric patterns in the embroidery.

Lajwanti his workaholic and loves her craft so much that she carries her threads and needles wherever she travels.

A Shilp Guru and recipient of merit and National Awards and IGNCA Samman , she has several master creations to her credit that are held in significant collections. Lajwanti has travelled extensively and has exhibited her master craft work in London, Germany, Argentina and Turkey. She continues to thrive and give her best through the colorful and sparkling colors of Phulkari (Traditional hand embroidery of Punjab).
